Rev David Pickering

David was inducted as St Andrew’s minister in September 2004. He has a vision for the church as a joyful, welcoming and inclusive community that lives and shares the love of God.

David works with the team of Elders, Pastoral Care group and Pastoral Care visitors seeking to offer support and care.

Prior to St Andrew’s David was seconded from the URC for a five year period from 1999 – 2004 to develop and manage the ecumenical Eco-Congregation Award Project www.ecocongregation.org designed to encourage and enable churches green their life and mission. David was ordained as a Minister in September 1990 serving the North Teesside Group until 1999.

David is married to Jan and they have three children. Aside from the environment and a particular concern for climate change, David enjoys cycling and for him the ideal destination is a Hebridean island. Thus far he has visited more islands than he is years old.

He has an interest in Christianity in the early medieval period (400 - 800AD) in the Hebrides.

In summer 2012 he is leading a Pilgrimage to the Hebrides, the so-called 'Cradle of Light' visiting sites of Christian worship on Bute, Islay and Iona.
